A coworker sent me a link to the live stream.
I’ll be honest - it didn’t actually excite me that much. I think I’ve lost my interest in playing computer games. The only thing I could think of is “I wonder how well that thing would run Folding@Home?”

Is a 3090 enough to run Microsoft Flight Simulator?

I still laugh at the fact that Crysis has been replaced as the benchmark.

To be fair, it seems like that’s ray tracing performance they are showing, I would imagine that real world differences are significantly lower.
I’m pretty disappointed that the 3070 will only have 8GB (the same as my 4 year old 1070). The 3070's memory is obviously faster, but it still feels not at all future proof. I’d feel a lot better at 16GB (or even 12).
Still think I’ll be making a video card purchase this fall, but I’ll definitely be waiting to see what AMD’ s offerings look like first.

This is useful info as
I’m currently enjoying some of that sweet, sweet 0x relative performance.

Well your 2080 is by no means obsolete, you just don’t have bragging rights anymore.
I’m itching to replace my GTX 960. I bought F1 2020 and ran the in-game benchmark: 55 FPS average at ultra high, 85+ FPS at recommended settings. So I have
no real need to upgrade even. :/

I want to want an AMD card be cause on paper they’ re a no- brainer, but the driver issues some have had are very off-putting, and even a slight chance of having to spend time troubleshooting instead of playing games is too much.

Could be like the 2000 line and then drop a “ super” Version later on

I can imagine - Flight Simulator is a beast!
By comparison
F1 is childish
. My Logitech steering wheel arrives tomorrow so I’ll get to try it out and eventually explore other games. Whenever
I start to experience lag I’ll look at a new card.

My 2060 super still works just fine for the 20+
year old games I usually play when I happen to have time
.

The difference may not be that lower. With how far they’ve pushed the 12nm design to amd 7nm. Their jump to 8nm could give them a large advantage.

Honestly it’s a bit of a surprise to see them on Sam sung’s 8nm process rather than something from TSMC (presumably would have been the 7nm process there, though the 5nm is supposed to be launching soon ). My impression was that Samsung was a bit behind TSMC in tech.

No it is not at all surprising to see the entire cadre of price fixing companies in league together.
The posted chart is worthless. Look at the money, look at the settlement(s) against them in international court, look at the outrage that is given their behavior in sensible countries.

That would make more sense, though I guess it will be too late and/or too expensive for what I’m looking to buy. Hopefully I’m wrong.
